Chelsea + Ryan – Tuesday, May 15, 2018
Working my typical 9am-5pm in the office of Sacred Mountain, the phone rang. “Sacred Mountain, this is Megan.” I answered in my typical response the same way I do when anyone calls. Chelsea began asking the typical questions about what it would entail to have a wedding at SM. Lately, we had been questioning brides about their budget to ensure that before inviting them to the property for an hour long tour, they could afford the venue. Her answer was not typical, “honestly, at this point, I would pay just about anything”. Luckily for a midweek, one day wedding, pricing is rather competitive so we brought her up to SM, showed her around, and closed her and Ryan the following day!
Ryan is in the military and had already embarked on two deployments during their dating relationship. Chelsea was ready to marry this man! They booked their wedding, planned their wedding, and had their wedding in a matter of three months! Chelsea used pinterest and etsy for her decor inspiration and we had so much fun meeting up discussing all of the details. The thing I like the most about Chelsea is how open she is. She will let you in to the smallest, happiest, saddest, parts of her life. Her voice is so soft and sweet as she appears totally composed but her words tell a different story. Like most brides, she went through family drama, wedding dress stress, and floral upsets! Her tone of voice always stayed polite.
Our first meeting was at Tender Greens in UTC. This mall was under (and probably still is under) major construction. Chelsea had gotten off work early and when I met her at Tender Greens she had enjoyed the mall and had 3-4 shopping bags of fun! On the other hand, I was wondering if i’d even be able to find where I parked my car at the end of this meeting! We went through her timeline, checklist, floor plans, decor ideas, and any other wedding topics that were causing her stress. We talked it out, emailed vendors, and found solutions.
Chelsea had a small 50 person wedding so it was hosted at the Retreat of Sacred Mountain. Moving forward, Sacred Mountain is no longer hosting weddings at the Retreat side so Chelsea was one of the last! Lucky bride! We did her ceremony at the Sunset Plateau with wine barrels at the ends of open white doors to enter the seating. The wine barrels had a beautiful floral arrangement prepared by Wild Orchid Florist in El Cajon. Chelsea decided not to have an arch so the scenery and view that Sacred Mountain was in full sight.
Her Cocktail Hour was located at the Main Deck of the Main House with a cheese, cracker, and fruit display. Her Guest Book and photographs in memorial to those who have passed was also displayed with Sacred Mountain’s Iron Bar and Belly Bar Tables + Linen. We had very simple decor of mercury votives and glass cylinders with white candles. A touch of greenery to dress the tables. Simple and Elegant.
Her Reception was located at the European Pergola with 60 inch Round Tables. Decorating the tables were a wood slab with a mason jar floral bouquet in the center. The caterer, Descanso Junction provided all tableware. It was a gorgeous setting!
One of the best parts about this wedding was not only did I coordinate, but I also MC’d. The only time this posed a challenge was during the Ceremony when I had to get the bridal party lined up, the bride lined up, and play the music. Luckily, SM has wonderful staff who helped pull this off! From there announcing the Grand Entrance, Toasts, Dances was smooth!
Ryan’s father surprised his wife with a dance for just the two of them! The entire wedding was a wonderfully sweet and intimate wedding! This couple is perfect together!
