Lisa & Keith – April 13, 2019; Backyard Wedding in Ramona, CA
Lisa reached out to me through Wedding Wire 38 days before her wedding! Let’s just say we got to work right away! First thing we did was discuss what vendors still needed to be secured. This was pretty much everyone. Lisa was throwing a backyard wedding at her fiance’s parents house in Ramona, CA. This was my first backyard wedding but I was so excited! The first thing I did was head over to Green Wedding Shoes because they had just recently posted an article about backyard weddings. We knew we wanted beautiful lighting, a lounge, and tropical florals! I wanted to meet Lisa at the venue before we really dug into planning so we could discuss her vision, her priorities, and what was most important to her!
The first week of us trying to meet, Lisa came down with the flu so we had to postpone for the following week. This gave us 31 days to plan her entire wedding! Talk about a challenge! We secured photographer, videographer, lighting, rentals, decor, doughnuts, party bus, in ONE WEEK. One week of research, emails, back & forths on design, contracts & payments. This is more time consuming than you can probably imagine.
I loved working with Lisa because we both have a positive outlook on life and are high energy. I call this hummingbird energy. We got in the habit of connecting over the phone every morning to review what was done and to discuss what we needed to get done that day. Lisa is a project manager by trade so she understood many planning concepts already.
Lisa and the bridal party all got ready at the beautiful Rancho Bernardo Inn. We had the party bus scheduled to pick them up and take them back at the end of the night! Transportation is so convenient especially if people are planning to drink throughout the night.
Lisa has a son from a previous marriage so they did a unity candle lighting ceremony to really bring the family together as one! She had small scented colored candles laid out as favors for each guest. Her plates, glasses, and silverware were with white with gold tones. The two main colors were gold and fuschia!
Brilliant Event Lighting set up a gorgeous starburst lighting from one tall central palm tree that extended over the entire backyard. CC Vintage Rentals brought in farm tables, round tables, chairs, benches, wine barrel cocktail tables, their Gatsby Bar, and the most BEAUTIFUL Havana Lounge that was a complete show stopper! Green Pumpkin Floral who is a Ramona Local Florist designed gorgeous centerpieces and did an incredible job on the arch! There was so much detail involved in this set up to really bring everything together!
We had hit the budget and were not going to move forward with the lounge, with a videographer, or charger plates but Lisa was having so much fun planning and really wanting to give her friends & family a special night that we decided to move forward with those items. It’s hard to pass up videography– the movement of the memories of your wedding are so special!
The officiant and DJ company were friends of Lisa’s so that made it very special & intimate. The catering was also done by a family friend. As is common for weddings, a lot of people pitch in to support the bride & groom as they embark on this new chapter of life together. It’s always so heartwarming to see friends & family rally together to help make the night special for the couple!
The wedding day was super easy going and fun! Everything came together so beautifully! Guests were welcome to take home the floral arrangements, candles, pineapples at the end of the night! This was a big hit– there was not a single pineapple left over!
